With all the more advanced features it has, which is slightly higher than Numark Mistrack, the Numark Mistrack Pro was proven to resemble any mixers within the price range of $400 to $600. You will be even more surprised when you find out that you only need to spend about $250 for such great features of a music mixer.
Although many users are happy with their purchase, some found the unit isnt like what they have expected. So let us find out more about this unit and its features before you decide to get this unit for your DJ-ing work. Click here for more information about the unit from the customers perspective.
What You will Get from Numark Mistrack Pro
Basically, you will get 2 sound outputs, headphone and microphone inputs, 2 touch sensitive decks and buttons for all the needs of your Virtual DJ LE Edition. Yes, the software that comes with your unit is the Virtual DJ LE edition. If you wish, you can upgrade this to Virtual DJ Pro, which according to some users, works seamlessly. You may need to spend an extra $150 for this purpose.
You will love the layout of Numark Mistrack Pro as it is very easy to learn and very accessible as well. The very responsive EQ Kills are placed in the middle of the controller, while the effects and loop buttons are placed conveniently on top with the pitch bend and pitch knobs. The size of this unit is quite small and it was made of hard plastic, making this unit certainly easy to carry.
Pros of Numark Mistrack Pro
- The unit is made of about 90 percent plastic which ensures good durability and lightweight for travel purposes.
- The unit has nice looking as well as nice feeling platters. You wont get any rubber or leathery feel with the platters as they were made of hard textured plastic which felt just nice. They are sturdy and have excellent response when scratching, etc.
- The button layout is also nice, including the cue buttons for headphones and sync, cue, stutter, and play/pause.
- The setup is also very simple and easy; simply pop in the Virtual DJ LE installation CD which is included in your purchase, and install the program. After that, connect the unit to your PC or MAC then open up the Virtual DJ LE. You have to notice that you cannot use the software by itself, as if you try to open it up separately, it will request you to connect the unit into your computer.
Cons of Numark Mistrack Pro
- Since the unit is made of a hard plastic, we are certain about the light weight but we doubt about how much abuse it can take. Especially if you need to carry the unit a lot from places to places. To maintain its condition during travel it is recommended to purchase a good hard case to store the unit.
- The crossfader is extremely sensitive. It may shift over to the other side even though you barely flicked it. You better check your unit about this or ask the manufacturer whether it is normal to have such loose crossfader in their products.
- Although the size is small, it may not fit into a backpack or laptop case. The length of this mixer is about half a foot longer than a regular laptop of about 16 inches, so you may need to purchase extra case to carry the mixer.
- The built in sound card is not the Pro, and there are no ASIO drivers provided with it. This means, you will find a noticeable delay in between when you scratch and when you actually hear the scratch from your speakers.
Overall, Numark Mistrack Pro is a great controller for beginner or intermediate DJs, or simply for the typical bedroom/small party DJs. It has just the right amount of controls for truly fun 2-deck mixing and you can forget the hassle of about 800 controls in front of you at all times which may cause confusion as you forget what is labeled to what. With this unit, you will get a nice amount of controls which are labeled clearly.
Considering some of the lacks of this unit especially the sound card issue a user recommended purchasing the sibling unit, the Numark Mistrack. Although it doesnt have built in sound card, he claimed it to be better and you can even purchase better sound card like the Numark DJ/IO, NI Audio DJ 2 or something more advanced with the extra dollars. He also gave a tips that whichever unit you purchase, you have to make sure that it has at least 4 outputs so you can send one set of cables to your speakers and one for headphones to cue the next track before your audience hear it.
